Since 2008, the Edina-based Renovo Software has marketed software that allows prisons to manage and monitor video visitations between inmates and guests. Typically, those visitors interacted with inmates via video stations set up near prison grounds. Now, Renovo plans to launch new technology, called VisAnywhere, that will let people chat with prisoners from home and avoid a sometimes lengthy drive to correctional facilities.
The product launch will follow years of steady growth for Renovo, which now serves 92 prisons, up from 13 in 2008.
