April 27, 2014
The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office expects to begin utilizing a new video visitation system beginning April 28, 2014. The system, provided by Renovo Software, will allow friends and family to go online to register themselves and schedule visits with incarcerated loved ones. Video units placed in inmate housing pods will allow for visits without the need to escort inmates back and forth to a separate visitation area.
In addition, visitors will be able to log in to their account and visit inmates online from the comfort of their home or anywhere else with internet access. These features are not only expected to increase visitation opportunities for inmates and make the process more convenient for visitors—they will also increase efficiency, safety, and generate revenue for the county.
Visitors can schedule visits and conduct online visitations by going to https://jailvisiting.ycsoaz.gov and creating an account. Internet visits will cost $10 per visit, and all visits are 25 minutes. On-site video visitation is expected to eventually phase out the old method of visiting through glass which requires inmates to be escorted, increases chances of contraband entering the facility, and does not allow visits to be monitored, recorded, and automatically stopped if policies are violated.
