The Two Bridges Regional Jail is one of four flagship jails in the state of Maine that were chosen in an effort to reduce the cost of county corrections. Two Bridges currently houses inmates from Kennebec, Franklin, Pemobscot, Waldo Counties, the Maine State Prison, along with the two main counties it serves (Sagadahoc and Lincoln Counties). In an effort to better serve the public in its new function as a regional jail, Two Bridges has implemented a video visitation system designed by Renovo Software which will allow friends, family, and professionals to visit inmates over the internet.
Major Mark Anderson stated that visitors sometimes have to travel as much as 4 hours or more to visit inmates at the Two Bridges Regional Jail. He explained that the new system is intended to alleviate the stress and hardships of travel while also preventing contraband from entering the jail.
Internet visits are free to the public until April 13. Beginning on April 13, a $10 fee will be collected for each 25 minute internet visit in order to offset costs to the county. On-site visits utilizing video visitation stations will remain free, and minimum security inmates will still be allowed traditional visits. Utilizing in-pod video stations for on-site visits increases efficiency and security by eliminating the need for inmates to be escorted to their visits.
Visitors can now register and schedule on-site or internet visitations online at https://tbrj.renovosoftware.com. This not only saves time and reduces the workload on jail staff, it also automates checks on station availability, inmate restrictions, weekly visit limits, and numerous other factors. The system software is hosted and managed by the provider, Renovo Software, further reducing operational and IT network costs to the county. In addition, Renovo provides visitor support services via phone, email and live chat to help visitors with questions and issues should they arise.
