Peoria County Jail will implement a video visitation system in an effort to solve the many logistical problems they are facing with their current visitation process. Peoria County sees floods of up to 200 visitors at a time, some of which may end up waiting as long as three hours to visit an inmate. Peoria County staff must move the inmates back and forth from housing units for each visit.
By utilizing video visitation, Peoria County will be able to allow visitations seven days per week instead of the three days a week they're currently allowed. With twelve stations in the lobby and one or two terminals in each housing unit, visitors' waiting time should be greatly reduced.
