Moore County Detention Center Adds Online Visitation

The Moore County Detention Center in Carthage, NC has adopted new technologies developed by Renovo Software which will allow friends and families to visit with inmates over the internet.

Known as internet video visitation, or at-home visitation, the system uses video conferencing technologies to make visitation safer, more efficient for the detention center, and more convenient for visitors. Visitors simply register online at, choose from a list of available times, and log in at the time of the visit from any location with a camera, microphone, and high-speed internet access.

The Renovo VisManager™ platform was chosen by Moore County to automate the facility's visitation restrictions, policies and procedures in order to free up staff and provide better service to the public. In addition, inmates no longer need to be escorted to and from each visit since video units are located directly in the housing pods.

Internet visits further improve safety and security at the detention center by reducing the number of people entering the premises. At the same time, children can visit incarcerated parents without the trauma of entering a correctional facility, and distant family and friends can avoid the cost and time required to travel to the facility.

We really think it is a win-win fo everyone," said Sheriff Neil Godfrey.
